Job description: Role Overview:As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality physiotherapy services to patients across various specialties within the hospital. Your role involves assessing, planning, and implementing individualized treatment programs for patients with a wide range of conditions, including post-operative recovery, chronic pain management, neurological rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal disorders. You will also oversee the physiotherapy services provided to inpatients (IPD), ensuring that therapeutic interventions are aligned with the patients’ clinical needs and contribute to their overall recovery and well-being.Key Responsibilities:Patient Assessment and Treatment Planning:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients referred from various specialties, including orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, and geriatrics, to determine their physiotherapy needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on the patient’s condition, functional limitations, and rehabilitation goals.
- Utilize a range of physiotherapy techniques, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, and therapeutic modalities, to improve patient outcomes.
Inpatient Physiotherapy Services:
- Provide physiotherapy services to IPD patients, focusing on enhancing mobility, reducing pain, preventing complications, and promoting functional independence.
- Design and implement post-operative rehabilitation programs to facilitate early mobilization and recovery following surgeries such as joint replacements, spinal surgeries, and cardiac procedures.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care and to modify treatment plans based on patient progress and feedback from other healthcare professionals.
Patient Education and Support:
- Educate patients and their families on the importance of physiotherapy in the recovery process, including guidance on home exercises, posture correction, and activity modification.
- Provide ongoing support and motivation to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, addressing any concerns and adapting treatment plans as necessary.
Quality Control and Best Practices:
- Maintain high standards of clinical practice by adhering to evidence-based physiotherapy guidelines and protocols.
- Regularly review and update treatment protocols to ensure they reflect the latest research and advancements in physiotherapy.
- Conduct audits of physiotherapy services provided within the hospital to ensure consistency and quality of care.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to provide integrated and holistic care to patients.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case conferences to discuss patient progress and make collaborative decisions on treatment plans.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Accurately document patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes in the hospital’s electronic health records system.
- Prepare detailed reports on patient rehabilitation outcomes and contribute to the overall quality improvement initiatives within the physiotherapy department.
Training and Mentorship:
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants, supporting their professional development and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
- Lead training sessions for nursing staff and other healthcare professionals on topics related to physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and patient mobility.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and safety protocols related to physiotherapy and patient care.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients during physiotherapy sessions, including the proper use of equipment and facilities.
RequirementsQualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physiotherapy.
- Licensed Physiotherapist with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Extensive experience in providing physiotherapy services across various specialties, including orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
- Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills, with a focus on patient-centered care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
