Job description: Role Overview:As a Senior Dietitian, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the nutritional care of patients across various specialties within the hospital. You will be responsible for developing tailored dietary plans and providing expert counseling based on individual clinical conditions. Additionally, you will oversee the comprehensive diet planning for inpatients (IPD), ensuring the highest standards of food quality, nutritional adequacy, and patient satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:Patient-Centered Nutritional Care:

  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assess and understand the dietary needs of patients across various specialties, including but not limited to cardiology, oncology, endocrinology, and surgery.
  • Develop individualized dietary plans tailored to patients’ medical conditions, treatment plans, and personal preferences.
  • Provide ongoing nutritional counseling and education to patients and their families, ensuring they understand and adhere to prescribed diets.

Diet Planning for Inpatients:

  • Design and implement comprehensive dietary schedules for IPD patients, considering meal timing, nutritional content, and specific medical requirements such as pre-surgery, post-surgery, and long-term recovery diets.
  • Monitor and adjust dietary plans based on patient progress, feedback from the healthcare team, and changes in medical conditions.

Food Quality and Safety Oversight:

  • Conduct regular audits of food preparation and delivery processes within the hospital to ensure adherence to nutritional standards, hygiene practices, and patient safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure that meals provided to patients meet the prescribed nutritional standards and are prepared using high-quality ingredients.
  • Develop and implement quality control measures for food services, including taste, presentation, and portion sizes, to enhance patient satisfaction.

Educational and Training Initiatives:

  • Lead training sessions for nursing and kitchen staff on the importance of nutrition in patient recovery and the specifics of diet plans for various medical conditions.
  • Stay updated on the latest research and trends in clinical nutrition and integrate evidence-based practices into patient care.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Act as a liaison between the dietetics department and other medical teams, facilitating effective communication and coordination of care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case discussions to provide expert nutritional input.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, dietary plans, and progress notes.
  • Prepare reports on dietary interventions and outcomes, contributing to the continuous improvement of nutritional care within the hospital.

Quality Improvement and Compliance:

  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the dietetics services.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and hospital policies concerning nutrition and food services.

RequirementsQualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) or equivalent certification is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical nutrition, with a focus on inpatient care.
  • Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy for various clinical conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven experience in food quality management and auditing within a healthcare setting.
