We have a structured approach where colleagues work at an onsite location on fixed, ‘anchor’, days of the week, for a minimum of two days a week or more, as set by the business area (or nearest equivalent if working part-time hours). Introduction The role requires an experienced, high calibre mainframe designer with good functional and technical engineering skills / product knowledge to produce application and detailed designs for projects impacting Customer System team. Knowledge and working experience of the major tools in a toolkit for the specific application product – IBM Zseries Mainframe, COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, VSAM, z/OS connect API is vital to this role. What will you be doing Following are key activities expected from the role in Enterprise Platform application. Work on the producing the product (Mainframe Application) technical design by engaging, directing and collaborating with other internal and supplier teams as required. Maintain the product design, ensuring quality and integrity throughout the development lifecycle with minimal post Live issues. Participate in requirement gathering / component impact assessment of PWR’s (provide support to Product engineers to complete above). Understand the Business context of their product and supply input and direction to the roadmap for their product area by being sufficiently experienced and confident to offer advice and guidance to business stakeholders and the Bank’s architects in setting the strategic direction for the Product area. Mandatory Strong expertise & experience in Mainframe technologies i.e. COBOL, JCL, IMS, DB2, TWS (Scheduling), IMS, Stored Procedures, SPICE, REXX, Z/OS Connect API development and tools such as Endevor, Abend-Aid, File-Aid, DB2 platinum etc. Review test strategies & plans to ensure that they will ensure the quality of the delivered product and assist in the diagnosis of problems encountered during testing. Participate in technical implementation planning, ensuring that the integrity of live operations is maintained. Support/Lead evaluation and review of emerging delivery methods, tools and standards for e.g. DevOps, Mainframe Modernisation, Automation. Apply new ways of working as appropriate. Ensure that all governance, procedures and compliance policies are adhered. What We’re Looking For Mainframe Application Development/Testing Experience of not less than 10 years. Strong technical knowledge in Mainframes (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, IMS, DB/DC) is mandatory. Knowledge on ZOS Connect API development and DevOps is needed. Good understanding of Tools (Debugging / performance) is required. Ability to explore new age technology improvement / automation / DevOps toolchain is desirable. Domain/Testing/Technical certification will be an advantage. Consistent internal customer focus in a demanding environment. Sound time management and organisational skills.
