Job description: Vacancy: Scale-Up Engineer Location: Global – Flexible Job Family: Engineering As the Scale-Up Engineer you will carry out the relevant engineering activity required for IDEA to SCALE-UP for the highest risk NPI projects in order to mitigate industrialisation risk. Your responsibilities: Act as the engineering interface with technology on a project-by-project basis for high risk NPI projects. Critically evaluate equipment design and settings to quantify at part conditions, achieved through a combination of theoretical modelling using sound process engineering principals and practical experimentation. Translate at-part conditions to a predicted product quality and throughput (process capability) from data analysis of that generated from practical experimentation. This should be completed at varying scales to develop scale-up data to support improved product/process industrialisation. Use recognised engineering principals and knowledge to determine risk associated with the product(s)/process(es) being assessed to ensure process and chemical risk is quantified as part of any development assessment, and specifically that process safety risk management is appropriately coordinated. Contribute towards aspects of Technology and prototype process equipment capability management (URS, PQ, MoC, training) Requirements for the role: Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Chemical or Process Engineering. Experience in the application of product, process, data, and experience to develop technical process understanding. Knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety practices including COSHH, REACH and COMAH desired Good communication skills and the ability to foster and maintain relationships across functional and geographical boundaries Strong understanding of Clean Air manufacturing process and equipment, expert in some areas.
