Job description: Role Description To design and perform molecular and atomistic simulations of ironmaking and allied systems, conduct process modelling and simulation of unit operations involved in iron and steelmaking operations, design and perform high temperature experiments involving reduction studies of iron oxide and other systems, conduct analytical and numerical simulations on multiphase fluid flow, heat transfer, particle laden flow, combustion etc. and conceptualize experimental setups to understand different aspects of conventional and alternative Ironmaking processes. The job role involves: Designing and performing molecular and atomistic simulations of ironmaking and allied systems and recommending new materials from simulation insights. Conducting process modelling and simulation of unit operations involved in iron and steelmaking involving development of mass and energy balance models and integration of new technologies. Designing and conducting high temperature experiments involving reduction studies of iron oxides and other systems. Perform analytical and numerical simulations of multiphase fluid flow, heat transfer for several processes in metallurgical reactors Apply knowledge in fluid flow and heat transfer to build lab scale/pilot scale experimental setup Develop experimental setup, perform experiments, analyse data, report generation to validate critical parameters of CFD models Demonstrate and apply technical understanding in analysing results of different computational models, validate the model using experimental data and develop fundamental insights to bring innovation Develop ideas and concepts to mature technologies to a certain readiness level Deliver on technical projects by planning and executing different tasks by leveraging technical skills and implement new product design/process concept in plants Contribute to multi-disciplinary discussion, coordinate with multiple departments/ groups to enable team for future advancements Takes part in managing different research labs and resources. Skills Skill Experience in atomistic and molecular simulations in LAMMPS, VMD or other environments. Experience in process modeling and simulation involving Aspen Plus and other environments. Experience in designing and conducting high temperature gas-solid reaction experiments. Experience in commercial software like ANSYS-FLUENT, CFX for performing CFD simulations and show certain ability to pre-processing like CAD generation and CAD cleaning etc. Image analysis and data analysis using Python, MATLAB etc. Conceptualize design of experimental setup by similarity methods by using different non-dimensional numbers Good hold in test planning and preparing design of experiments (DoE) Ability to work in a cross-function team Excellent communication skills Having knowledge of modelling as well as experimental work. Having knowledge of LAMMPS/VMD and Aspen Plus Having sound knowledge of numerical skill-CFD/DEM Other Details Educational qualifications: M.Tech or M.Tech PhD in Mechanical/Chemical engineering/Aerospace engineering or Metallurgy. (Minimum Qualification):M.Tech (Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace engineering/ Metallurgy)with minimum three years of work experience or M.Tech PhD)
