The role of the Business Relationship Manager is to provide technology strategy and leadership for the business and ensure alignment with business strategy. This role works with various levels of business leadership to shape the digital strategy and value proposition of the company, while engaging in major initiatives that drives business growth and advocating how new technologies can improve the company’s speed, agility, productivity, and innovation advantage. Responsibilities: Is accountable for all aspects of IT services either provided and managed within the IT segment R&D team or provided from any other group within the entire IT organization. Develop and drive IT strategies to align with a high impact business agenda supporting the segment R&D function, including the integration points between this function and other functional IT partners. Accountable for relationships with business segment stakeholders. Collaborate with vendors, industry consultants and senior company management to define information needs, develop business cases and priorities, sustain service levels, and proactively managing business demands. Be a trusted advisor on helping the business to construct meaningful business cases for necessary investments and the required change management activities that the business will be required to perform for success. Understand and anticipate the direction of the business segment, identify opportunities based on the capability needs and make recommendations to support the desired future state outcome. Initiate and maintain a Function/Business Area capabilities roadmap by keeping current with technology advancements and digital innovations within the subject matter area Become a thought leader by introducing different ways that technology can maximize value in our pursuit operational improvements and revenue growth. Manage escalation process accordingly when delivery of services falls outside of the SLA. Maintain a deep knowledge of the latest market and technology trends related to our industry and particularly to the business segment supported. Connects with other product owners and managers to keep alignment between product roadmaps and business needs. Manage spend and IT investments according to plan and ensure timely deliverables during budget and forecasts processes. Manage the demand and associated portfolio of technology investments for the segment R&D function. Own a selective portfolio of applications and ensure continuity of services with those applications. Work with senior leaders to evolve culture and organizational behavior, elevating IT into a strategic partner. Key Experiences & Attributes: Education/Experience A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field such as technology, economics, computer science, data management, engineering, pharmaceutical or statistics. Minimum 10+ years’ experience working with business leadership in creating measured value of IT investment. 5+ years of experience in R&D technologies supporting capabilities such as PLM, ELN, CAD/CAE, QMS, CTMS, etc. 5+ years of experience in life sciences, more particularly with regulatory and compliance rules. 3+ years of experience in building business cases (costs, benefits, assumptions). 5+ years of experience in data analytics, AI/ML and data visualization is helpful. Certified Business Relationship Manager (CBRM ) accreditation helpful. Prior experience working in a highly matrixed, large organization preferred. Functional/Specific Competencies/ Technical Competencies Excellent communication and presentation skills. Broad business process knowledge and business supporting technology knowledge. Highly skilled and experienced at negotiating conflict and problem-solving to achieve win-win outcomes at executive levels. Exceptional ability to lead change using positive and collaborative methods. Be able to influence others, using personal rather than positional power. Solid project management skills Process improvement methodologies. Deep market trends understanding of the advancement and applicability of technology.
